This 10-day tour takes you to some of Bhutan's most iconic chortens and dzongs, many of which are architectural wonders or home to priceless relics. The highlight of the trip is visiting the Thimphu Tshechu, a huge festival that celebrates Guru Rinpoche, the monk who introduced Buddhism to the country. You'll get to experience the ancient culture of Bhutan alive and well with two days of two-day festivities, where you can watch dances performed by elaborately dressed monks and nuns.

An Overview of Your Adventure

DAY 1

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, your guide will offer a traditional welcome with a greeting scarf and take you to your hotel. After freshening up, explore Paro with visits to Rinpung Dzong, Ugyen Pelri Palace, and the National Museum. Enjoy an evening of leisure in downtown Paro.

DAY 2

Embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Explore Memorial Chorten, Takin Preserve, BBS Tower, Changangkha Temple, and Tashichho Dzong. Check in at your hotel in Thimphu.

DAY 3

Start your day with a hike to Tango Monastery, followed by visits to Bhutan Post, the National Library, National Folk Heritage Museum, and the Institute for Zorig Chusum. Enjoy an evening at your leisure.

DAY 4

Attend the Thimphu Tshechu Festival, a three-day celebration honoring Guru Rinpoche. Admire the cultural richness of Bhutan, with locals dressed in traditional attire. In the evening, explore Thimphu town.

DAY 5

Continue to immerse yourself in Bhutan’s culture and tradition at the Thimphu Tshechu Festival, with vibrant masked dances and festivities.

DAY 6

Drive to Punakha via the Dochula Mountain Pass, visiting Druk Wangyel Chorten and Chimi Lhakhang, the ‘Fertility Temple.’ Explore the beautiful Punakha Dzong and spend the night in Punakha.

DAY 7

Explore Punakha Valley with visits to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Sangchen Dorji Lhendrup Nunnery, and the village of Talo, known for its scenic views. Return to your Punakha hotel.

DAY 8

Return to Paro and visit Dungtse Lhakhang and Kyichu Temple. Check in at your Paro hotel.

DAY 9

Embark on a hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) and visit Drukgyal Dzong. Experience rural Bhutanese life at a local farmhouse and enjoy a hot stone bath.

DAY 10

Your guide will accompany you to Paro International Airport for your onward flight, bidding you farewell.
