Destination Update Philippines: Typhoon Odette

The Philippine’s resilience was once again tested as Super Typhoon Rai (“Odette” in the Philippines) barreled through parts of Mindanao and Visayas a week before Christmas.

 

The typhoon made initial landfall on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 1:30 p.m. local time on Siargao Island in southeastern Philippines and slashed across 7 regions making several landfalls. Piece by piece, the nation is getting a clearer picture of the damages brought by Typhoon with initial focus on search and rescue.

 

At 1000H today the center of the eye of Typhoon was located at Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan and is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility today.
