Diethelm Travel Myanmar volunteer team joins Pencils for Kids’ annual charity mission trip

Share

In early April, the Diethelm Travel Myanmar team joined Pencils for Kids (PFK) Myanmar on a two-day mission trip to visit schools on the outskirts of Yangon. Pencils for Kids is a non-profit organisation which aims to improve the educational prospects and future of school children. They work to fill backpacks with essential school supplies and uniforms, partnering with other like-minded individuals, organisations and corporate sponsors to fulfil this mission.

This trip was PFK’s 6th annual Myanmar Mission Trip and Diethelm Travel Myanmar provided transportation and a helping hand. The team delivered 500 backpacks along with stationery and school uniforms, which families must typically pay for out of pocket.

The first day started with the delivery of backpacks to schools in the Bago and Hmawbi regions. On the second day, despite heavy wind and rain, PFK and the Diethelm team accomplished handing out gifts to a nunnery and community schools in Kyimyindaing and Syriam townships.

Supporting education for a better future and witnessing the friendly smiles of school children upon receiving the backpacks was truly rewarding, making the mission an unforgettable experience for all volunteers.

Diethelm Travel Myanmar is not the only Diethelm Travel country which supports Pencil for Kids, Diethelm Travel Thailand has been taking part in this good cause as well. Read more here.
