Discover Northern Thailand in a Nutshell

Experience the culturally rich highlights of northern Thailand on 4-day tour covering Chiang Mai, Doi Mae Salong and the Golden Triangle. Known for its jungle-covered mountains, ethnic hill tribes, unique art and architecture, intriguing natural attractions, northern Thailand is filled with fascinating places, people and stories just waiting to be explored. Get up close and personal with rescued elephants, venture to remote hilltribe villages, connect with the local people, uncover the secrets of the infamous Gold Triangle, and take in some of the most stunning examples of Buddhist art and architecture in Thailand during this 4-day discovery of a lifetime.

 

Beginning at the Elephant Care Centre in Chiang Mai, a local guide will share the history of Thailand’s most revered animal and introduce you to a group of elderly and pregnant elephants. Explore the settlement of Baan Tong Luang, an eco-agricultural hill tribe village in the nearby mountains before ending the evening at a homestay at the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge.

 

The next day, visit the fun Elephant PooPooPaper Park and then continue with cave exploring through the twisted caverns of Chiang Dao Cave. Sightsee in the charming small town of Thaton then, the following morning, head to the famous Golden Triangle region where Thailand, Laos and China meet. Take a boat trip to visit Don Sao Island and learn more about the infamous historic opium trade at the Hall of Opium.

 

On the final day, explore the mesmerising rolling hills of 101 Tea Plantation, where rows of scented tea plants stretch far and wide. Enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the Kok River and visit the famed ‘Long Neck’ Karen hill tribe village at Baan Ruam Mitr. To end the experience on a high note, visit some of the region’s most notable works of art and cultural centres, including the foreboding Baan Dam, or ‘Black House’, and the enchanting ‘White Temple’, known locally as Wat Rong Khun, before returning to Chiang Mai.
