discover Pa-O with village stays

Pick up from your hotel and Starting point is at the Magyigone boat jetty. Hike along teak forests, sugar cane, seasonal plantations and all the way up to Moekaung village. Rice, garlic fields, streams and beautiful villages can be seen on the way. Have lunch at Moekaung. Walk to Donthakhaw and hike up to Hti Ne, rural Pa-O village. Accommodation at the community house in Hti Ne.

 

On the second day, you have two options to participate in the village activities.

 

Option 1: After breakfast, spend the day exploring the village and learning about the lifestyle of the local Pa-O people through seeing activities such as traditional hand weaving, bamboo handicraft making, traditional farming practices and more. After a lunch at the community house, where you’ll be encouraged to participate and learn cooking methods with traditional recipes the village guide will lead you around the area where you can learn about reforestation. At night after dinner, settle in for an evening of entertainment as the villagers perform with traditional musical instruments and dances.

 

Option 2: A community village guide will take you to meet the villagers and you will join them to work in their farms and fields. After lunch enjoying a family-style lunch, learn about the local methods of cotton weaving and bamboo handicraft making. At night after dinner, settle in for an evening of entertainment as the villagers perform with traditional musical instruments and dances.

 

On the last day of this tour, check out from the community house and continue to Naungkae Village then drive to Kakku and have lunch at Hlaing Kone Restaurant facing the impressive Kakku Pagoda complex. A remote site covering around one square kilometre, the complex is made up of over 2,000 stupas packed closely together. After exploring, drive back to Inle via Taunggyi for your last nights’ stay.
