Visit the Kyaikthale CBT Village and experience what a typical day is like and learn about their home industry, farming techniques and agriculture.
The tour begins as guests are warmly welcomed into the community and are taught about the importance of the Mingalar Bio Garden and how it has provided nutritious vegetables for the community since the Cyclone Nargis disaster in 2008.
Afterward, visit a member of the community’s home and then explore the fields of the local farming community to learn about the creation of natural fertiliser, the cultivation of crops and poultry farming. This will be followed by lunch and a culture show at the village.
As an additional option, learn how to use the freshly picked vegetables from the Mingalar Bio Garden in an educational cooking lesson. Afterward, stop by at Mingalar Monastic School and greet the children during their recess. Conclude the day with a visit to Twante’s Pottery Kiln, the proud home of an antique pottery collection.
Visitors who wish to spend more time with the village can do so in an overnight stay in the village. Four locally designed community lodges are built near the garden and include facilities such as a dining hall, kitchen and Western-friendly toilet facilities. These lodges can accommodate a maximum of 16 guests at one time.
