Surf and Safety Training at Arugam Bay

Share

The Ampara District Chamber of Commerce has launched a new surf training and certification programme with funding and support provided by the Australian government.

A world famous destination for surfing, Arugambay is one of several tourism areas in which the Sri Lankan and Australian governments seek to build local capacity and provide greater value to visitors.

This programme will train swimming and surfing instructors in beach life-saving, aquatic first aid and emergency response. Successful participants will be awarded an international standard certification, strengthening local surf clubs’ ability to maintain service standards and meet visitor expectations.
