An Overview of Your Adventure
Day 1
Your journey starts with an excursion around Paro and the country’s capital Thimphu, the only capital city in the world that doesn’t have any traffic lights.
Day 2
On this day, you’ll explore the ancient Changangkha Temple, built in the 15th century full of ancient scrolls and thankas. You’ll make your way through the Dochula Mountain Pass, where on a good day, you’ll get a breathtaking view of the Himalayan range. This will take you to Chimi Lhakhang temple, where childless couples from far and wide visit to receive its blessings.
Day 3
Today you’ll head to the Punakha Dzong. Built in 1637, and said to be one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan, it contains a set of 108 volumes of Kanjur, a holy book of the Drukpa Kagyu lineage, written in gold. It also safeguards Bhutan’s most sacred relic, the Rangjung Kharsapani.
Day 4
You’ll take a short ride to a hiking trail that leads up to one of the most famous Buddhist monuments in the Himalayas, the Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. After lunch, you’ll continue to the ruins of Drukgyal Dzong, built in 1646, and said to have prevented numerous invasions throughout the country’s history.
Day 5
After breakfast, your guide will escort you back to the airport for your onward flight. Tashi delek!
