Hop on a bicycle and discover the rural way of life in Vientiane. Experience the ‘real’ side of this charming city on the bank of the Mekong River, cycling along back roads past schoolyards, temples, markets and small local restaurants that are rarely seen by foreign visitors. The unique route passes residences of the former colonial rulers to further explore alleyways lined with palm and wild banana trees in the surrounding countryside. Depending on the time of year, keep an eye out for fishermen and their bamboo-supported nets along the Mekong’s sandbanks. Complete the experience by enjoying a local lunch in a small Lao restaurant while meeting friendly Lao people and see their daily way of life.
This bike tour begins with hotel pickup by your guide at 8:30hrs. Each guest is provided with a good quality mountain bike, helmet and drinking water. The cycle route is mostly flat and is ideal for riders with normal health, but is made up of 80% dirt roads, so may have an occasional pothole or stone. If other languages or private tours are required, a supplement applies.
