Phu Quoc Island off the coast of the Mekong Delta’s Kien Giang province has been listed by CNN among the top five destinations to visit this fall for those planning their first trip to the Asia-Pacific region.
“If you’re dreaming of a beach getaway in Asia this fall, Phu Quoc in Vietnam should be a top contender. For starters, the dry season begins in November and runs till April,” it wrote on its website.
Located just an hour from Ho Chi Minh City, visiting Phu Quoc Island is easy and convenient, and Vietnam offers a 30-day visa exemption policy for many foreign passport holders.
Besides the usual lounging and snorkelling around Ong Lang Beach, CNN recommended plenty of things to do, including visits to Phu Quoc Prison Museum which offers a peek into the island’s dark history, and trips to Phu Quoc National Park and Suoi Tranh Waterfall, both favourites of nature lovers.
Other destinations which made the CNN list were Chengdu (China), Fukuoka (Japan), Jeju (Japan), and Perth (Australia). Earlier, in June, Bai Dai (Long Beach) on Phu Quoc Island was listed among the most beautiful white-sand beaches in the world by US News & World Report.
