Singapore’s Chang Hua Construction has announced plans to develop the first 5-star hotel in Maldives capital, Male. While details of the project have not yet been made public, it is confirmed that the 228-room hotel, 533-room residence and accompanying retail space will be built on the western coast of the city, facing the newly developed Rasfannu artificial beach, part of the Rasfannu Mixed Use Development Project, recently inaugurated by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The new hotel will join the few tourist hotels located in the capital city and will be the first real luxury offering. Chang Hua is also developing a resort in South Ari Atoll set to open in 2019.
